Free Webinar Introducing Small Businesses to Federal Procurement – Learn How to Get Started

The U.S. government is the world’s largest single purchaser of goods and services, spending just over $535 billion on contracts last year.  Small businesses are in a prime position to grow through government procurement because the federal government is required to spend 23% with small firms, including 5% with women-owned firms.

According to an American Express OPEN government contracting survey, small businesses that actively sell to the government are much more likely to exceed $1 million in revenue versus their non-contracting peers: 47% of small business contractors have business revenues in excess of $1 million versus the 5% of all small businesses that have achieved that level of business success. However, many small businesses don’t know how to take advantage of federal contracts.

To help business owners realize this golden opportunity and begin work with the U.S. government, American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) are offering a free web tutorial on Wednesday, March 21. This educational webinar is part of Give Me 5, a national program created by American Express OPEN and WIPP to help women business owners get their full 5% share of federal contracts.

In this one-hour session, Give Me 5 instructor Gloria Larkin, President of TargetGov, will provide insights on the tremendous opportunity women business owners have in federal contracting as well as information on how to register on the Central Contractor Registration – the first critical step in doing business with Uncle Sam. Gloria will also address how to build your SBA profile after registration.
