In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Polyvore, the largest fashion community on the web is pleased to announce a partnership with breast cancer survivor and YLANG|23 owner Joanne Teichman—who in conjunction with a contest—will make a donation to the Stand Up To Cancer Initiative (SU2C). Teichman is making the $10,000 contribution on behalf of the whole Polyvore community.
From October 11-17, Polyvore users are invited to create and dedicate “sets,” or digital collages, to the important women in their lives - whether mother, daughter, grandmother or friend – while including distinctive vintage and contemporary pieces from YLANG|23. Three winning sets will receive $100 gift certificates to Ylang23.com and ten sets, as selected by Teichman and the Polyvore team, will be featured on both sites.
“We are honored to partner with Polyvore member and breast cancer survivor Joanne Teichman and the Stand Up To Cancer organization to help raise awareness and fight breast cancer,” said Polyvore Co-Founder and CEO Pasha Sadri. “Our community of passionate users will stand up to cancer with their creative and innovative designs to honor the important women in their lives.”
“As a survivor who was diagnosed eight years ago this month, I know that the more we can do to raise awareness, the further along we are in fighting breast cancer,” said Joanne Teichman, owner of Ylang23.com. “The theme of honoring important women in our lives is especially important to me, as I lost my mother and mother-in-Law to cancer. I love Polyvore and you can look for my special Polyvore sets in their memory.”
“We are delighted that Polyvore and Joanne are so generously supporting SU2C’s efforts in the fight against cancer,” said Stand Up To Cancer co-founder Kathleen Lobb. “One in two men and one in three women in this country will be diagnosed with some form of this disease in their lifetimes. As a grassroots movement, we want each and every person to know they can help the scientists working to end cancer. We’re grateful for the opportunity to convey that message to the enormous number of people who visit the Polyvore site.”
